HEALTH MINISTRY
The Ely United Methodist Church Health Ministry Parish Nurse program started in 2004. Our chairperson, Donna Rusco, passed the Parish Nurse Education Program at Concordia College. She immediately set out to put our Health Team in place, then applied for a Parish Nurse Grant and received the grant from the United Methodist Church Conference. The grant provided funds for several needed supplies that were purchased. Several pieces of Medical equipment were donated to the Health Team including wheelchairs, walkers, porta potties, shower chairs and canes.
The Health Ministry team takes and records blood pressures on a monthly basis prior to Sunday morning worship services as needed for our congregation members. Health education, phone calls, visits to persons who are unable to get out and about or attend worship services and visits to all the community health care facilities are part of the Ely United Methodist Church Health Ministry program.
